Music and
Movement (4 year olds) |
An exciting dance preparatory program for 4 year
olds. This is an outgrowth of work
done by the Directors as Artists-in-Residence for the Wolf Trap Institute for
Early Learning Through the Arts. This
program uses music, dance, and creative drama techniques to accomplish the
following objectives with the children:
improve self-awareness and build self-motivation; foster group
awareness and social competencies; develop gross and fine motor skills; increase
motivation and enthusiasm for learning; improve ability to concentrate and
observe; foster individual artistic creativity through music appreciation. (Attire: Girls—pink leotard
and tights; Boys—tee shirt and shorts) |

Pre-Ballet (Kindergarten) |
A delightful class where “learning to learn” is the order of the
day. It is an extension of the class
described above with the addition of group direction in Pre-Ballet, rhythm
and coordination, and singing and memory building. (Attire: Girls—pink leotard,
tights, and pink ballet shoes; Boys—white tee shirt, black tights or gym
shorts, and black ballet shoes) |
Primary Division |
Basic beginning level ballet and tap technique. Emphasis is placed on building confidence,
strength, and poise. Learning to cooperate
and work in a classroom environment is not only a good way to channel
untapped energy, it is also an important first skill for a young dancer to
acquire as dance is one of the few true community arts. (Attire: Girls—sky blue
leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and black tap shoes; Boys—white tee
shirt, black tights or gym shorts, black ballet shoes, and black tap shoes) |

Age 6 years (1st grade) |

Primary II |
Age 7 years (2nd grade) |

Primary III |
Age 8 years (3rd grade) |
Elementary Ballet
|
From this point, ballet students begin to broaden their
horizons. Their education in ballet
terminology, technique, anatomy, and placement increase extensively. Classes are needed to assure proper
alignment, muscular development, and proficiency in movement. Placement within this classification is
with the approval of the instructors.
At least a year of prior training is required. (Attire: Girls—Plum leotard,
pink tights, and pink ballet shoes; Boys—white tee shirt, black tights or gym
shorts, and black ballet shoes) |

Intermediate Ballet and Beginning Pointe |
Acceptance into this level and placement within this level is with the
approval of the Directors. Students
at this level must attend 2 classes weekly.
(Attire: Girls—Black leotard,
pink tights, pink ballet shoes; Boys—white tee shirt, black tights, black
ballet shoes) |

Advanced Ballet |
Admission to this level is with the approval of the Directors. Participants must attend at least 2
classes weekly. (Attire: Girls—Solid classical color leotard, pink
or black tights, pink ballet shoes; Boys—white tee shirt, black tights, black
ballet shoes) |

Theater for Teens |
From Improvisation to Scene Study and back again, this class works on
developing confidence on stage. |
|
Junior Tap (age 9 – 12 years) |
A chance to learn the essentials or expand your knowledge of this very
popular American dance form. Combines
well with Elementary Ballet for a complete dance experience. |

Child Jazz (age 8 – 11 years) |
This represents a good introduction to some of the more basic jazz
movements. |
|
Junior Jazz (age 10 – young teens) |
A very popular class using the terrific contemporary music and fun
that jazz involves, but on a younger, more suitable scale for this age group. |
|
Senior Jazz (Teens to Adults) |
An exciting, popular class to further jazz skills and to HAVE FUN
DANCING!! Some experience preferred. |
